SLOW Food’s international events have developed an enviable reputation in the world of food, agriculture, fishing and wine. These events bring together thousands of farmers, fisherfolk, vignerons, cheeemakers, chefs, cooks, academics and students to share information and ideas, participate in taste and eduction workshops, and discuss challenges.
If we are so stupid as to destroy the environment we are destroying ourselves as well. That is why it is very important to reform and build a new paradigm of food. This is the great challenge of the future: a new food policy to safeguard the planet. And it is one that we want to achieve with Terra Madre. This is the kind of commitment that we want. But farmers alone cannot do it. If there isn’t a great movement and the support of consumers then farmers are doomed to disappear.
